My cousins wedding is coming up in October and I am not going to be able to make it, I know I cannot make her wedding cake but I would still like to make one for her bridal shower, I live in Alabama and she is in New Mexico, have any of you ever shipped a cake and how did you package it? Did it make it in one piece? Who did you ship with?

It is very expensive and hazardous. A single cake, in fondant tightly wrapped and packaged might make it. Also plain cakes can be shipped, like pound cakes. But decorated cakes only make it if they are hand carried and delivered by person.

I have to politely disagree. I have shipped two cakes and they both arrived intact. One was a small 3d cake covered in fondant and the other was an 8 inch round covered in buttercream. You need to make sure you have tight packaging with a way to keep the cake cool and it has to be overnighted. If you PM me your email, I will send you a couple of pictures with directions n how I shipped one of them.
