i dont recommend adding lemon juice. use the extract. the juice did cut down on sweetness...but it just left a bad lemon aftertaste.
I just made lemon BC this weekend with juice and it tasted great. It would be good to add the zest too. ![]()
Hi, I'm really new here but when I saw your question, I thought I'd give you the recipe for BC that my cake instructor gave me a long time ago.
It ends up with a touch of lemon taste and mixes well with the almond. I love it and get many compliments on it.
2lb. powdered sugar
10 Tbsp milk (or 1/2 cup + 2 T)
1 cup Crisco
1 Tbsp Real lemon juice
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. almond extract (I add a touch extra)

I really like the other suggestions you've gotten as well.
I use both lemon extract & juice to make lemon BC... use 1tsp of each and 1 tsp of vanilla. It's great.. and not as sweet.
