Has anyone noticed a change in the Viva paper towels? I bought some the other day and they don't seem as soft as they used to. Am I nuts or has anyone else noticed this? icon_sad.gif

I noticed that too! I figured I got a "bad" batch but when I got more they were the same. So, no, you are not nuts...or else we both are! LOL

Yes, I've noticed also! They're a little bumpier and not as fuzzy soft!

Do they still work to smooth the frosting?

Urgh!!!!

I have been reading for so long about the viva paper towel method icon_biggrin.gif ......... but everyone has said get the smooth one with no pattern, which we CANT get in Australia!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

I finally bit the bullet and grab the one that seemed to have the least amount of pattern on it.......... and ended up with a lovely icon_mad.gif brick pattern over my cake!!! icon_evil.gif

You seem to have so much stuff in the USA that we just cant get out here, it is really becoming a pain!! icon_mad.gif

Just my little vent for the day!

I haven't tried them, but I have heard that the blue shop paper towels work as well, since the do not have any textured print on them.

I thought something was different. I'm glad I'm not the only one. They still work great though. I've never tried shop towels but I will keep that in mind, thanks.

I noticed that the last couple packs I got were not quite right as well. Almost like paper that has gotten wet and then dried. I mean I got them to work, but found it a bit harder. I think I'm gonna try an old trick my best friend's mom used when I was growing up. She uses loose leaf paper. OOOO, or this could be the time to make a run to good ol' home depot and get a roller and try Melvira's method!!!

I have some at the shop, but i haven't really thought about it. i'm going to take notice tomorrow. the "smooth" side did seem just a bit rougher, but i've been so busy lately, i guess it didn't register. I'll have to check it out.

I noticed the change also. The last cake I used them on came out with a slightly wrinkled look to it, but I was able to eventually smooth it away. They used to be so soft and smooth, and I LOVE using them icon_cry.gif
