There was great discussion on this in my course 3 Wilton class on Thursday.
According to the online dictionary I used, it's none of the above ..... it's FON-duhnt
Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) - Cite This Source
fon·dant
Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[fon-duhnt; Fr. fawn-dahn]
noun 1. a thick, creamy sugar paste, the basis of many candies.
2. a candy made of this paste.
Thanks=) Even though I wasn't the one asking the question, hehe. I'm glad to know that I've been pronouncing it correctly. I've often wondered. ![]()
I use the French fawn-dahn just because that what is was a million years ago before it was really in vogue and on Food Network all the time (and my mother is French Canadian).
Although lately I've been saying sugarpaste because it just sounds so cool - I actually put "Sugarpaste Specialist" on my business cards LOL!! My friends know it is tounge-in-cheek, but for those who don't know me it sounds impressive ![]()
I think this poll does come up every few weeks/months. ![]()
My vote goes with fon-dunt but that's not an option so does that mean I'm out numbered?
