I have been asked to do a cake decorating demonstration at the state fair. I know this is a broad question but does anyone have any tips or ideas on ways to make it really fun and interesting. I'm guessing that most people won't really be cake decorators themselves but just people hanging out at the fair? If anyone has done demos before and has ideas on what to do or what not to do I would be interested in hearing. THanks so much in advance!

Today I was looking at a book called "Creative Cakes Anyone Can Make" by Jill Foster. This might be a good approach if your demo is geared toward the home baker with no training.

I have been doing demos for several years. The biggest draw is chocolate/candy roses. If you make them fairly small, on suckers, you can give them away to the kids who stop.

I am always amazed at how many little boys are fascinated with candy roses.

I have also done brush embroidery and fondant flowers. They also seemed to like using stamps on fondant covered cookies.
