A cake that looked like the land mine that blew off a soldier's leg for his wife's birthday.

What!!! ??? I wouldn't appreciate that at all---why would anybody want to be reminded of such a terrible accident ON YOUR SPOUSES BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! I'm still trying to pick my jaw up off the computer keyboard....

I made a cake for a friend who's hubby had had a kidney replacement. She wanted the cake to look like a kidney (yep, you got it with veins n all). Now THAT is strange........

Oh my I haven't had any strange requests but I'm definately going to keep lurking in this thread. Four replys and we've got a kidney and a land mine, this will be interesting.

The sweet 16 cake in my gallery. She wanted printed images of her favorite paintings, and some "pin up girls". She actually drew the design of the cake. It's quite embarrassing to me - but I liked the way my "girls" turned out.

I was reading a forum on another site this morning, and the women was asking for any ideas on freezing a cake that looked like her new baby still attached to the placenta to serve at the birthing of their baby. ooowww!!! Excuse the pun, but that is just bad taste.

When I was working in a bakery I had a request for a cake for someone who had breast cancer and had a breast removed. They wanted a bikini cake with only one breast.

I have another! A girl that had breast cancer was having a party for her breast she was about to lose and she wanted nipple candies for the party for favors. YES, I did them!

Mine doesn't even compare with the ones that have been posted so far icon_confused.gif , but it's the only one I have...it's more cute than strange though.

I was asked to do a cake with a pink pig theme for an older man who was retiring from the company I work for. We used to give him pink pigs as a joke because he was always snorting and acting like a sexist pig icon_lol.gif (which he really wasn't, he was very helpful to me in my career). I used the Wilton ball pan along with large marshmallows for the feet, ears and nose, then covered it all in pink BC. I put it on top of a sheet cake that I'd iced and then smeared with brown gel surrounded by green coconut. I added a popcicle stick fence and it looked really cool. His eyes go so big when he saw it icon_eek.gif ! Some one was supposed to take a picture, but I never got one tapedshut.gif .

Great thread, BTW. The Landmine and the kidney are OTT!

I have a lot of medical people as clients so I have had some odd reqests:
1. 3D amputated leg for a pathologist's birthday
2. runny nose for an allergist's birthday
3. anatomically correct heart for cardiologist's birthday
4. petrie dish with a growing "culture" for a lab tech's birthday
5. many XXX-rated body parts for different bachelor & bachelorette parties
6. perky upright "boobs" for a breast implant celebration party
7. "bikini" cake in lace bra and panties for a women's lingerie bridal shower
8. pair of lungs for a respiratory therapist's graduation

Two other odd ones:
1. 3D "PODS" storage container for the birthday of the owner of the state franchise
2. Pair of men's Sansabelt trousers for a retirement party

I guess some of those are not so unusual...but they made me go "hmmm..."

The one I said no to was.........a pile of deer entrails for an avid deer hunter.

I don't ever want to be known as the artist who made the pile of guts out of cake............nooooooo, no, no, no.

....couldn't make it, couldn't look at it, couldn't eat it. Such a strange juxtaposition!!!!! Why create it YUUUUUUCKY.

I did a cake for a vampires convention. It was a huge black cross w/roses and vines which isnt strange but I had to do the filling so that when they cut into the cross it would look like it was bleeding! (lots of thinned down strawberry filling)lol

It was challenging to make but I really had a hard time dealing with my religous beliefs before agreeing to do it. In the end I just said oh well its all in fun-thats how I had to look at it.

I think mine must have been the green frogs being sucked down into a whirlpool, with their little suctioncup fingers scrabbling for a handhold...
