Does any one know how to make a tiny braided rug out of either fondant or gumpaste? I along with a few friends are going to enter a Gingerbread contest and inside the house we want to put a tiny braided rug in front of the fireplace. Can anyone help with ideas. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks, Z

I guess on the fondant you could use a toothpick and draw in the design. Maybe use royal icing so that you can get different colors to create a braid look.

I don't think this helps you much but I thought I would throw in my thoughts

couldnt u just roll three tiny peices of fondant in ropes, then braid the three, then start in a circle and roll it around? i think that would look cute

i might be thinking of something different tho?

also if ur worried about it unraveling all u would have to do is roll out a thin peice of fondant, the size of the rug, apply a sticking agent, like clear vinella extract and then roll the braided rope out on that
