I need to drive a BUNCH to work and cary them in, and walk a s bit from the parking garage.

What's the best way to package these little guys up without wrecking the frosting?

Thanks!

Wilton makes that 3 in 1 cake/cupcake holder maybe that would work well?

I have a styroform board I have had covered with plastic wrap and reynolds wrap. Stuck a bunch of toothpicks in the styrofoarm then stuck each cupcake down on the toothpick. Worked perfectly and cupcakes never moved!

wgoat-that is such a cool idea. I've had accidents from cupcakes sliding, even in cupcake containers. The styrofoam seems like it will work better. Can't wait to try it!

Wgoat...what a great idea!!! That's one of those "it's so simple that I should slap myself for not thinking of it first" things. What a great, great idea!!! Off to stick toothpicks in my styrofoam for a weekend cc order. icon_smile.gif

Thanks a bunch!!!

What a great idea! I bet this would work for larger cupcakes also.

Hubbies, are funny! They have good ideas! I had a ton of cupcakes one time, and my husband suggested a pizza box that we had, and he cut a little divider and everything! It worked great! As long as the cupcakes are close together so that they don't have alot of room to move. Another suggestion is...I do not ice them (I do this with a tip and bag) until after you place them in their shipping position. icon_smile.gif

I actually use styrofoam egg cartons to transport mini-cupcakes! They work great, and the carton protects the icing!

Well, they're all packed up. I got something like 40 mini cupcakes and 24 regular cupcakes secured with toothpicks through styrafoam in the box from our new microwave! So if I can manage to carry that plus a cake box on top, plus my purse, in heels, in one trip, I'll be doing good! (Cuz I'm stubborn like that!) :p

I really like this idea...very simple..and you know what...I have the cupcake holders (look almost like tupperware but you get them at Wally World), but they don't work near as good as the toothpick deal. Plus you can adjust it for bigger cupcakes! Glad you liked it and glad you made it to work icon_smile.gif. Did you drop your purse or anything??? LOL Hope not!

I went to good ole Wal-Mart and got a basket...got a thick piece of either styrofoam or foam board...cut holes in it, and if ya want my advice borrow husbands drill with the bit that is used to make large holes, takes less time but makes a huge mess! I then wanted to protect cupcakes from the styrofoam and layed down several layers of reynolds wrap, but now I think I should of wrapped it in press n seal or something. The basket transferred the cupcakes gloriously and it's easy to store..I just put it back on top of the kitchen cabinets...nobody knows its a cupcake holder! icon_smile.gif

I transport a few orders of cupcakes and I use these plastic cupcake insert that are sold at the supply shop I shop at. The insert fits 12 and and fits 1/4 cake box or you can put 2 inserts together and they fit the 1/2 cake box. They work great for me. The number to the shop is (909)989-3709. They are in CA perhaps they can advise where to buy in your area.
