I'm new to all this and was wondering what do you all do to advertise for your "goods", besides giving them to friends and family? Keep in mind i'm doing this as a home-based business. Thanks so much!! ![]()
Print yourself business cards and create a small portfolio you can carry around. Pass your cards around at church, the gym, the doctor's office---just start letting people know that you are in business. Share your excitement and have your family also let people know that you are in business.
Seeing and tasting is believing so I still think that donating a cake here and there at charity auctions, social gatherings, and such is the best way to get business. That's basically how I started. But your enthusiasm and a really good portfolio will take you far.
Good luck! and Welcome to Cake Central!!

As long as you are licensed for home baking, you can donate goods to places that normally would purchase baked goods. Word of mouth is the best advertising. Spending money on print ads is generally a waste of resources.
If you don't have a licensed legal business, it is not a good idea to advertise. If the authority learns of it, you can be fined. It is a risk you need to consider.
Thanks so much everybody!! Everyones totally sweet here!!
