Just a quick question.... a few weeks ago I made royal icing spikes to do the 'cactus cake' for my nana's birthday. They were on parchment paper and i put them in a cupboard to dry.

Unfortunately my dad was taken into hospital and her party was cancelled. I need to make this cake tomorrow and was wondering if I can still use the spikes. The have not been in an airtight container.. is this okay?

If I cant I am going to have to come up with a different cake as new spikes wont dry in time will they?

One the royal icing is dry, it keeps a very long time. (nearly forever)

They will be fine to use.

In my class Wednesday, my instructor said that Royal is good to use until it grows mold. I think this would certainly apply to dry Royal as well. Good luck
