Does anyone sell sample platters or cookie bundles (for example, three or four seasonal flavors)? If you have experience doing this, how has it helped your business? Have you generated more sales from it?

Here is my take on your question (my opinion only)

in order to have a variety of items available, all the time, you need a fast turnover. A small 'baked fresh' operation couldn't support the occasional purchase of a variety pack. I couldn't possible bake several kinds of cookies in a day to have them sit around until someone wants a sampler.
You could give them away to certain potential customers, that might generate future holiday/party purchases

Mixing flavors (strong flavors) in one package, will distort the flavor of all the items.

I know some offer trays at holidays, but ordered in advance.

Thanks JoAnnB for your feedback. I guess I was thinking in terms of how some bakeries I've seen bake--either a certain choice of cupcake or cookies are made available on any given day of the week and it rotates. If the flavors are pre-determined, it might be fairly easy to offer a few samplers. But on a small operation it might not be feasible. Also, I've recently begun experimenting with seasonal flavors. I was hoping to be able to offer a 'Taste of Fall' sampler but was unsure if anyone had tried this approach.

I bake fresh to order. Right now I am starting out small--growing by word of mouth only. So many people have expressed an interest in trying flavors that are listed on my flyer. When new customers place an order with me, along with their first purchase, I include a half dozen of another flavor. I want to thank them and let them know how much I appreciate their business. This also allows them to sample another flavor at no expense (and hopefully will generate more sales in the future!).

I'm always looking for ideas to grow. Any and all feedback is welcomed!

I don't bake for profit; just for fun. Creative energy outlet. I think what you want to do it a great idea. On KarensCookies website, she has a very yummy-sounding Cinnamon Spice cookie recipe that I think would work for "Taste Of Fall". I'm planning on making some pumpkin shaped cookies in October using this recipe. That may work for you too.

I think it's a good idea- and would work as the way you said- as a "thank you" and teaser for another order. Or perhaps on an advanced order basis, during the holidays.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I'm really excited about the Fall cookie flavors I'm working on (maple, toffee, an apple spice, pumpkin, and also one with caramel) and can't wait to share them with my customers. Thanks JenWith for the tip about Karen's. She has a fabulous site...I hadn't made it to that section yet though. icon_smile.gif Always open to ideas, flavors and new recipes.
