Here is another item I found at wal-mart in the candle section (sorry if your walmart doesn't carry it like the shelf one!) I just used the glass I had cut for the lighted one I made from the shelf to cover the top. It was around $20.

Can you possibly take another picture of the base? I am having a hard time seeing it, I just see black.

Thanks!

sure! I love digital camers!! You can see it better in my photos. I thought they should have put a colored napkin or something under it but there wasn't anything available.

This base brings out your cake very well. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to go to walmart with a very open mind to find such things yo can use for a base.

Thanks for posting another picture-I love this stand. I have got to start looking at stands, boxes, and bowls in a different way. I'm sure I've sold MANY things like this at garage sales, and given them away, never thinking about using them as cake stands. Thanks for opening my eyes again!! thumbs_up.gif

Beautiful cake! I was wondering what size the base is and in what department you found it. Is it ment to be some sort of tray?

I LOVE finding different things to use as cake stands! I'm cheap so it kills me to fork out the bucks regular stands! Make sure to check out the one I made from a shelf- http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-forum-9.html

phoohbear- It was in the candle section at walmart- I think you are supposed to put multiple candles in it. How silly. Didn't they know it was a cake stand! icon_smile.gif

I love both your ideas, they are wonderful. I must tell you that I walk around all the shops these days looking to see what I can use for cakes. This has all happened since I joined CC. My DH thinks I am NUTS. LOL
