I know everyone hates this question but I am really clueless on this. I'm notorious for giving things away because I'm afraid to ask for what it's actually worth. So I need your opinions on what to charge for a couple of different cakes.
The first one is a birthday cake, I think I put all the important details in the description:

The other one is just my Wilton Course 3 finale, but I am getting requests for this cake for some reason. It is just a 6" tier, a 10" tier, both WASC, covered in Fondx, with just about 40 fondant roses. Hopefully that's enough info for an opinion on pricing.

I live in rural Oklahoma so I am really afraid of overpricing but then again, I'm not wanting to short-change myself either.
So, any suggestions? They are greatly appreciated!!

You need to price the cake high enough to cover the cost of the fondant and other materials. Take a look at materials/ingredients x 3 or 4 and then compare it to a per serving price. Then for the rose cake, I would also charge extra for the flowers, at least $1 each.
Thank you. I will keep track of my costs next time and use that to figure my price from now on.
I didn't keep track of anything on these so does nyone have a price estimate? I'd really appreciate some help. ![]()

I guess it really depends on locations to determine how much you can actually get for the cake......that plane cake is awesome - no less than $75 (and probably more if you are in an area to get that).
And as for the fondant cake with the roses, I would be charging $4 per serving for a cake like that........it might be on the small side but the flowers are insane and it is incredible. I too have the problem of how much to charge but I came up with some standard prices and now I am a little better - but it doesn't bother me to lose business to someone who wants cheap cake.....I have 4 kids and can't waste precious time doing an 8 inch cake for $15!
P.S. I like your birthday ![]()
The plane cake is HUGE!! 12" round by 3 layers.. a 12" round that is 2 layers will serve 48 people. So you can say that the 3 layer version will serve about 60 people.. A fondant covered cake will start at $3.00 per serving for me. That $180.00 right there.. and the plane model would be extra.. at least $15.00.
The round cake will serve about 45 people.. at $3.00 per serving that is $130.00 and the flowers would be A LOT more.. no less than $1.00 each and that's pushing it. No less than $170.00 and that's pushing it.. probably more like $200 - 225.00. those flowers aren't easy or fast to make.
Thank you guys! That helps a bunch. I really don't know what the going rate per serving is in my area, I guess I need to call around and get a better feel for that. We did the plane cake for a friend for $55, but I won't be quoting that price to anyone! lol And I really had no idea at all what you should charge for flowers like that. So thanks for the advice!
