I was making a batch of Wilton Class Buttercream icing. I thought I was adding 1 Tablespoon of meringue powder. Instead, I added 1 Tbs. of Gumtex. The stuff looks like play dough. I am wondering what I can do with it, if anything, or should I just chunk it. Thanks for any comments, suggestions.
The recipe is correct recipe is:
1 cup shortening
1 tsp flavor
2 Tbs water or milk
1 Tbs. meringue powder
4 cups powdered sugar

Not sure Gumtex is used to make fondant softer. Hmmmm try making it flat and see what happens. Some of the best things have been discovered by accident!!!!
It tastes like buttercream icing with a little more texture to it. It melted in my mouth. It is a little sticky, I think if I add more sugar like cocorum21 suggested, I would be able to roll it out without it sticking to everything. I could flatten it with my hands and roll it up in balls with my hands. I haven't tried to do anything else with it yet.
A variation of rolled buttercream?! Interested to find out how it dries/holds up to shapes.
Wow!! you should be proud of yourself, lainee!
