"...It is a wonderfully rich and dreamy combination of delicate almond biscuit or joconde, chocolate ganache, coffee buttercream, and chocolate glaze. It's like a very refined and decadent layer cake. "

This explains what it is how it got its name and has a recipe. Sorry I dont know if it is good one or not but it gives you a place to start
I've never heard of that either... but I'm curious!!
I am wondering if you are asking about the Opera Cake? This is made with thin layeres of cake and mousse, buttercream and covered in choc. You can just google the recipe or Epicurious has one called a Cuban Opera cake. The layers a little thicker. I think you could do this with a cake mix. But it would never be the same. Usually, the cake is adorned with candied hazelnuts and a touch of gold. Dorie Greenspan has one in her book as well as Alice Medrich.
an opera cream cake? Is it even possible? I doubt it.
Anyone have a great recipe for opera cream cake? I searched "recipes" and didn't find anything. TIA
This is a cake BEST made from scratch.
I know opera creams are a candy which stems back to the days when the high falutents thought it gauche to chew in public, thus the invention of a confection that actually melted in your mouth. I've never heard of an opera cream cake though. Now you have me intrigued! ![]()

Jeffer01, If your search for Opera Cake and you find the Dessert First site it will have an upclose and personel view of an opera cake. You will see how it should look when it's assembled. Or maybe you can just go to the site and search there.
