Could someone tell me how many cake squares I will get out of a 1/2 sheet cake and a full sheet cake . I need to make 4 dozen cake squares for a wedding shower. I am new at baking cakes . Any information will be appreciated.

It depends on how big you want the squares. a 1/2 sheet is about 12x26
You need to allow for having to trim the edges, just in case it doesn't bake completely level.

I post this tip all the time: Figuring servings for sheet cakes is just "do the math":

12x18 sheet cake..... if you're cutting pieces in 2" x 3", then you will be cutting rows of 6 x 6 = 36 pieces. If you're cutting pieces 2" x 2" then you will be cutting rows of 6 x 9 = 72 pieces.

11 x 15 sheet cake.... 2" x 3" = 5x5 rows = 25 pieces. 2" x 2" = 5x7 rows = 35 pieces.

I guess my question is...how big of a piece do you think people expect to get?? I guess you can always tell them 11x15 will get you 35 pieces if you cut 2x2. So if want more/less cake then order a different size. I am just curious though what people are expecting...in this supersize country!!

I think you are making the cake squares right? Like Petit fours? I am guessing you are just trying to figure out how many sheet cakes you need to bake to get 4 dozen out of them...and I think you got your answer.....
