do any of you inject simple sugar into your cakes...in one article I read it said to squeeze some into the layers to keep it moist...not sure if I should do this. Advice would be appreciated.

normally, it is brushed on the cut layers. Most often in sponge cakes or genoise. Most regular cakes won't need the extra moisture.
