I bought red Kool Ade against my better judgement, and guess what. My 2 yr. old filled up one of his Little People houses with it and got it ALL OVER my off white carpet. I am a total idiot.

What gets red Kool Ade out of carpet? Or am I screwed?

I was going to say one night while i was up late with my son I saw an infomercial about the rug doctor (you know the carpet cleaners in the grocery stores) anyway they were selling them for home use and they claimed to have a product that would get red dye # whatever out.......I always wondered if it truly worked......

I'll tell you what doesn't work-Spot Shot. I've been applying and rubbing for a while now, got some of it out, but you can still see it very clearly. Of course, it's right in the center of the room.

I could have told you that.......I also tried it... I am lucky mine is around the room in front of the couch, beside a chair.....so if i move everything an inch or so i can cover it (and I have)....but it still makes me mad.

I went on the rug doctor website and it shows the cleaning products for sale where you can rent the machine, it claims the spot remover will remove koolaid....so I am thinking of going to buy some next time I am out.....its worth a shot huh?

Some grocery stores let you rent steam cleaners. We rent every once in a while because we have a lot of dogs. They work great for dirt, but not sure about kool aid.

I used to use red Kool-Aid to dye my hair in high school - it stayed forever. Good luck!

OxyClean!!!! Do it ASAP!!! That stuff got a giant puddle of cat puke off my white couch! And cat puke has stomach acid in it (as well as hairballs, little pieces of string, cricket legs, etc..) I've also used it for coffee stains and it's FABULOUS!

Okay, I just got back from the much bashed Walmart and applied Oxyclean and Resolve. Oh, and I just found a huge new spot, dribbled all around, with a bottle of Windex where someone had tried to clean it up.

My tip will not help you now, but if you ever catch the stain right after it happens. Take a cup of very hot water and poor it on the stain and then soak it up with a towel. It will work. But it has to be done before the liquid is soaked into the carpet. Then if there is a little bit left over you can use oxiclean.

It lightened it up ever so slightly, but it is still there. I'm going to keep trying! Maybe I'll go rent a Rug Doctor. I just don't feel like cleaning out my car to make room for it!

I think I am just going to buy the rug doctor stuff (its in a spray bottle so i think its spot treatment) I am not going to rent the machine.......I never tried oxyclean because I thought it only worked on natural stains (not man-made dyes) that is why I asked.....

I didn't know that Oxyclean was just for natural stains. Hmm. It did get out some other stains that I thought were hopeless, but not the Kool Aid.

For whatever reason when my parents build our house they put light, LIGHT, gray carpet in my room. I was four at the time. I spilled everything on it! I remember once spilling a huge glass of grape juice. I don't know what she used but she got it up! I'll ask and see what she used to use back then.

try lysol anti-bacterial KITCHEN cleaner...it comes in a spray bottle like 409....I use it to spot clean my light beige carpet all the time......I have gotten red gatorade and blood out with it!!!! I suggest, depending on the size of the stain you buy 2 bottles...first pour it onto the stain...soak it....do not start rubbing it yet.....let it sit for adout 10 min........use a shop vac to get it as dry as possible....this should take some of the color out without grinding it into the fibers.....then spray it on the stain and now use a clean rag or even a soft scrub brush to work on the rest.......... if the stain is that bad it may take a few times but it should work.............good luck

i don't know about any of these cleaners because i don't have any carpet in my house. my DH lays flooring and he says nothing truly works on stains of any kind in carpet because you may not see it on top but it is still there underneath and over time the stain will resurface. like i said i don't really know but i hope you get it out. sorry i couldn't be more help. good luck

Youtakethecake-I'll give it a try. That is what I use in my kitchen. Someone told me once to try Resolve to get out laundry stains, so maybe I'll start using all of my products for different things.
