I have several combinations that I myself CANNOT REFUSE! Butter cake with pineapple/coconut filling (very exquisite), chocolate cake with apricot/cream filling, yellow cake with strawberries and a hint of brandy, chocolate with mandarines filling. Last week I tried something new and mixed a can of almond paste with a batch of french buttercream (yes! with all the eggs, sugar...) then added a bit of buttermilk and pinch of salt of course. Everyone was asking me about my new "almond filling".
Coconut cake with lemon filling has been popular for me. I personally will eat anything dessert related.
As of today... red velvet with cherry walnut cream cheese filling.
Actually enjoying my 2nd peice right now ![]()
I love ccokies and cream filling. I guess it's the kid in me. I would love to try some of the combo's mentioned though. They sound delicious. A couple of requests prior to my post have asked for recipes. I'm hoping they get posted. Both the turtle filling and the praline and cream one have me drooling. ![]()
crzyadgrl - sure I don't mind sharing, since it's so easy! I use DH dark chocolate fudge mix using butter for the oil but otherwise no doctoring. Then I torte and fill with chocolate ganache, toasted chopped pecans and caramel ganache ( I just combine melted caramel and add cream until it's still thick but pourable.) Then I ice it with whipped ganache. It's very rich and delicious. My husbands coworkers beg him for cake. heheheh ![]()
heavenlys- I like shortcuts, so this is REALLY easy! I just set aside as half as much of my buttercream as I would use to fill the layer at hand and then start mixing in chopped pecans. I love pecans, so I use quite abit. Then I take Smuckers Carmel Sundae Topping and stir it in to taste.
Like I said. REALLY easy. But SOOO good! ![]()
Raspberry mousse made with real raspberry jam. . .yum! It is great!
