Of course, now that I need the info, I can't find it anywhere. I've searched but no luck.
I'm making my first cupcake cake. Do I "glue" them onto the board with icing? All or just the outer edge ones? And then do I frost each cupcake individually and then smooth icing over top of all to decorate or do I just plop icing on like a regular cake and proceed as usual. TIA!!

What I do is I start off putting some icing on each cupcake top to make it easier when I go to spread the icing over the whole cake. I do put icing on the outter cupcakes so they don't move in transit. When you do ice the whole cake let it set up a little and then you might need to touch up the spots that are in between the cupcakes.

If I totally confused you here are some links.

Good luck with it-it is easy once you have done it.

I have never glued them down ... even when working with mini cupcakes ... but I DID use the icing tip to frost them then just smooth it all out. I think that is what makes the difference.

I do - just to be sure that they don't shift. CreatedByMe had a good idea to at least "glue" down the outer ones.

I've always wanted to do one but I wasn't sure if you use regular bc or whether you needed a special frosting.

I put a small dab of icing on the bottom of each cupcake. Especially if the cake has to be transported over a long distance. I did a spongebob cake that had huge frozen buttercream transfer on it. I had to fly with this cake and it made it there safe and sound.

Thanks everyone! Now I feel better about what to do.

CreatedByMe - that webshot link you gave is the one I was looking for! I knew I had seen pics how to do it but couldn't remember where. Thanks so much!
