I've only ever used the easy glide and it works good........my only fear with the other is that if you pushed too hard you would get lines in the cake from the edges of the roller

I like the easy glide smoother over the roller.

However, this is what I use and prefer over the Wilton items: http://www.globalsugarart.com/product.php?id=18998

The smedger is longer than the Wilton easy glide smoother. It has one end that can be used to smooth both the cake side and the fondant covered board, ensuring a perfect, vertical side. It is more pricey but definitely worth it.

Definitely not the roller - I'd rather use my hands than that! It has been relegated to the back of my supply box!

I agree with Mirel. Worth the money totally! I have two Wilton fondant smoothers and find that Im picking up the smedger more and more because it does a better job on the sides. The smoothers dont get down far enough on the bottom of the cake because of the oval shape head I think. Either that or its because its just not quality material.
