HI-
I discovered this site randomly and think you all are AMAZING. I am going to attempt to make the 3d Cruiser cake like a wiggles car for my sons bday next week.
I have viewed a ton of pictures on this site and have ideas but am not sure what my timeframe should be, what materials I will need, how the heck to ice it and when should I start that, etc.

I wanted to take a cake decorating class but didn't get to in time.... I seriously have never done anything like this but hope (if all goes well) to make this a new hobby!!!

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated... the party is on the 14th.

I'm a newbie too who has also just found this site. I found the course one wilton book to be helpful. Has lots of basics in it including a good buttercream recipie (the first one Ive made that worked for me and tasted good). I haven't made any beautiful 4 teir wedding cakes but lots of for family most carved in some way and the only supplies I'm sure you'll need is time and humor. LOL icon_lol.gificon_biggrin.gif Good Luck and be sure to post your pict when you are done so we can wee how it turned out!

Welcome and good luck on the Wiggles cake! I have not done a Wiggles cake before, but have used the 3D cruiser pan. If you're using a box mix, be aware that 1 box isn't going to be enough (even though the directions say it will be).

My suggestion would be to find the photos in the gallery that you like and Private Message the person who made the cake asking for tips/instructions. I have found that everyone on this site is so helpful.

are you carving this cake or are you using a pan??? Here is a starting point for you if you're carving

you can adjust it to fit the wiggles car by just carving a little out of the top to make it a convertible. Oh and of course add the colors to the wheel well!! good luck feel free to continue asking as you go with the cake there are a ton of people on here willing to help. Oh also if you saw one you'd like to recreate in the gallery just pm the person.....I have yet to pm someone on instructions for a cake they've made and have them refuse...everyone is really helpful!!! Welcome to CC!!

Thanks ladies for the quick replies.
I am using the 3d cruiser pan and will cut it out to make a convertible.

With regards to timing. If i make the cake a week before and freeze it then ice it the day before, will that be okay??

I did a Wiggles BRC Cake using the 3D cruiser pan. I also had never done a decorated or carved cake before I did this one. I did it all in the same day but you can carve it then freeze it the week (or longer) before you need it.

Good Luck and have fun with it!!
