An associate of ours (who happens to be rich) was wanting to see some of my work to decide if she wanted to use me to bake a cake for her daughter's birthday. This is great for me, because this could get my name out there to some very well to do people. My husband told her about a LV cake that I had made and she said her daughter loves Chanel purses (she's only 14years old, BTW), so, my husband tells her that I would make her a Chanel Purse cake just so she could see my work.
Needless to say, this frigging cake was a disaster!!! The MMF was getting hard pretty fast, I put the wrong color of pink in the MMF, and to top it off, the cake fell over!!!
The lady is going to pick the cake up today, so she can taste (it tastes great) and get a look at my work!! I really want to call her and tell her not to pick it up because I'm SSSOOOOOO unhappy with this cake.
What would you guys do???
I am so sorry that you feel this way. from the picture though the cake looks adorable!

I agree with Liis. It seems that we tend to be our own worst enemies and are way too critical of our own work. Everyone else can not see the imperfections that you do.
Best wishes to you.

Thank you!!! Right now though, I feel like throwing it in the trash and starting over!!!!
Oh well!!!
I think a 14 year old girl who knows and loves Chanel purses needs a reality check... that, or Mommy needs to introduce her to the real world before the real world hits her!
BTW, your cake is fantastic. Don't sweat it.
sorry - that stinks
but the picture really looks cute and it doesn't look like it fell !!!
maybe you are being extra critical "cuz you want it to be super perfect???
it really does look great!!
I think it looks wonderful too.
Just wondering though - how big is it? It looks so small in the pic.
it really does i dont see imperfections and im sure she will flip over it and if you personally dont think its your best than show her that one and whip out your portfolio let her see what you can do and if she doesnt hire you to do the cake well then shes a snob let her go to the local grocery store and see if they will put in that kind of time and effort for her.
I think it looks wonderful too.

Thanks!!!
It's pretty small; I took an 8x3" round, carved it so it would be square; I was just doing a miniature version of one that I found online!!
I think it fell because I didn't make the bottom wide enough!!!
I think it looks adorable.
Remember:
We are our own worst critics.
I think you will be very surprised at how well she likes and makes over the cake.
Best wishes sent your way.
Well, she just picked up the cake. I explained to her what happened to the cake; but she loved it anyway!!! She's with a friend whose daughter's birthday is today and they are going to take it to her daycare. She acted like she liked it, but we'll see!!
Nobody told me that this cake decorating thing can be stressful and wonderful all at the same time!!!!!
