first...calm down. it's really not that difficult. you will need to purchase some items if you haven't got them on hand. before you can determine which sizes you need to know how much it is suppose to feed. there's a cake chart here or you can find one at wilton.com or earlene's. here's a link to her webpage. there is a wealth of information about constructing a wedding cake, serving chart and much more. hope this helps...good luck and ask questions if you need help with anything else.

First of all...........congrats! Take a deep breathe, relax. There are many different ways to construct a tiered cake..........like Diane said, you will need the number of servings first. There is a tutorial here for stacked cake construction, if you want to use dowels:

I personally use the Wilton hidden pillars, and love them.......they can be used with any Wilton separator plate........

Ditto on the hidden pillars. Not sure if you are stacking it or using pillars, but the push-in pillars are very easy, too ... no doweling!

Wow.. your first wedding cake.

Congratulations. I am also a newbie and not very good at stacking. My first three tier was for my daughter's baptism last October. it looks like a wedding cake. Since i knew even less than I know now I used the push in pillars for the cakes. It was easier than I thought.

So relax.. if I did it so can you!!!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

What I learned most was... make sure that the table that you put your cake on is LEVEL. The table was leaning back and then after a while my cross fell off the cake.

Have fun making the cake and Good Luck!!

first decide on # of servings needed
then choose stacked or pliers
Then there are alot of good instructions to help with the doweling or push in pliers, just need to know what direction you are going in
