Have you tried antonia74's ri? It is fantastic for decorated cookies and the fat in the cookies (from what I have been told) is what helps keep the icing from getting rock hard.

I love Toba Garrett's Glace icing. You can find it in the recipes here on cc. It dries enough that you can stack or wrap ypur cookies, but doesn't get "crunchy" hard like royal icing. Its my favorite cookie icing.

Hi! Definitely try my icing. It is thinned with water, so it's really not a hard royal icing! thumbs_up.gif

I love using rolled buttercream w/ royal icing details. I used antonia74's royal last time. But the rolled buttercream is AWESOME!
