I have a dumb question. In the gallery under uncategorized, templates how do you tranfer this type of pattern onto your cake. How do you make your own template out of it. Here's the one I was looking at http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=181723
I've been wondering the same thing myself. I see so many wonderful patterns and have no clue as to how they are supposed to get from paper to cake!
You can place the image over a piece of styrofoam and use a needle to poke holes to trace the pattern. This leaves a textured "dotted line" on the back. You then press this textured side into your crusted buttercream. Now you have a template to trace with your icing.
you can print it out, mirror image.. trace it with royal icing, piping gel(let it get hard) or chocolate... then press it into the bc, ot fondant.. it will leave an impression...
