If I'm using real butter in my NFSC recipe and I start baking today Sunday, can these cookies be left out all week? Here's my schedule:

Sunday/Monday - Bake
Tuesday - Ice (takes 24 hour drying time)
Wed - decorate
Thursday - bag
Friday - Reception Table - yikes!!!!!

Will these cookies still be fresh and it is safe to leave them out that long?

Please need quick advice.....I've gotten some different opinions but don't which one to use - icon_cry.gif

Thanks so much!

I wouldn't think it would be a problem. We routinely enjoy the cookies 7 to 10 days after baking. As for the butter. This is NOT an official answer....but when I was a kid when never put butter in the refrigerator; we always left it on the counter in the butter dish. And no one in my family ever died from it. icon_surprised.gif)

Thanks so much Landi - I know - it's true when you think of what our mother's and grandmother's did and lived a healthy life!

I just finished baking about 60 cookies and I'm letting them sit on the racks.

How should I store them overnight? Just cover with parchment/Wax?

Thanks so much for your input!

I leave my cookies out for up to five days ... I personally think they taste the best once they've sat out for at least 3 days! You should be fine. That frosting keeps them soft.

One more quick suggestion ... don't overbake them or they could get too hard. Pull them off as soon as they start turning lightly brown on the edges. The actual baking time depends on oven temp, cookie sheets used, parchment paper, etc. so it's hard to recommend exactly how long to bake them.

Do they still taste fresh though?
