I've made the NFSC recipe and already started cutting out the shape and I placed them in the refrig til I bake them tomorrow. The cookies have to be wrapped by this Thursday (Oct 5th).

Once they are baked by Sunday or Monday, can I leave them sit out and work with them from there OR should I refrigerate them???

I figured I'd bake Sun/Mon, Ice them Tues, Decorate Wed, Bag Thursday ????????? This is my first time with such a big project, would REALLY appreciate some opinions.

I don't have a lot of freezer room........ icon_cry.gif

Once you bake you can leave them out of fridge. Usually when I bake my cookies in the morning or early afternoon I ice them later that day. Then sometimes I can even finish the details that night or the next day. Depends on if you want the icing to blend or be raised up. HTH Good luck!! thumbs_up.gif

I used the NFSC recipe with real butter. So it's okay to leave them out from Sunday - Thursday when I wrap them?

The butter has been baked into the cookie...it isn't going to go bad.

I leave butter in a butter dish out all the time.......I've never run into any issues with it going bad!! They'll be fine.......if you're worried they'll go stale stick em' in a ziploc baggy.....but you don't need to refrigerate.

I keep mine on a cookie sheet covered with Press n Seal until I am ready to decorate them. This locks in the freshness. I also cover them after i decorate them until I can get them in the bag.

KHalstead - I don't know what I was thinking! I never even thought of doing this. I must be having "cookie block" LOL. Thanks for the great (and obvious) tip. I declare myself a total dork. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gif
