How Do You Store All The Cake Supplies!

I'm not much help here ![]()
I have cake boxes and cake boards/some pans/ribbons/ in the laundry room, Wilton colors and dusts and tools in tackle boxes (on the top of my fridge), Americolor bottles/contact paper rolls/meringue powder/color-flow mix and other ingredients in the Pantry, pans in the cupboard under the microwave and in the livingroom I have all the scrapbook stuff so that's where I keep my scrapbookpaper I use for the cake boards.![]()
You see: I can't help!!!!![]()
I have it in my bedroom, kitchen, baby's room, attic, basement, etc. My husband is getting ready to build me my own storage shed so I can get most of it in one place. Usually I forget what room I put something in and tear up the whole house trying to find it!
I haven't acquired that much...YET
I'm sure the day is coming though. Right now I have an opaque "tool" box that I store my tips, colours, cake sparkles, fondant smoother, gloves, decorating bags, cake stencils, etc., I have a military house, thus my kitchen is the size of a shoe box, so I have to make sure if I buy it, that I can find a "home" for it.
EVERYWHERE!!! ![]()

, I think that half of my kitchen cabinets are full of cake decorating stuff!!! I will be updating my kitchen soon and I will buy those big rubermaid containers and put all the stuff there and put it in the garage, hopefully I will be moving soon and the first thing in my wish list for a new house is a big kitchen with lots of cabinets and an island, for now i just have to deal with it. ![]()

All my pans are in clear plastic garbage bags on shelves in the garage. I needed to pack most of my tools to take to Fort Worth (3 hours) for my daughter's birthday. All our friends and family are up there so we have the kids' parties up there.
I emptied a 4 foot tall plastic rolling cart of drawers that I was using for my scrapbooking supplies and put all my spatulas, cookie cutters, icing bags, icing colors, the paddles to my KA, you name it, it was in there. I decided I liked it so much, I have left it that way. The great thing about it is that it rolls!
Now I have no idea what to do with my candy molds ![]()
i bought a rolling cart and i store all my little stuff in seperate plastic bins that i store in the cart. all my pans are on top of our extra freezer. all of my books and extra stuff are under the kitchen cabinets and my cake boxes, totes, stands, and turntables are in the hallway cabinets.
I have 2 free standing cabinents in my kitchen. They're the kind you can get at Menards or Home Depot made of pressed wood with the wood color finish. They're about 6' tall and around 3' wide. I have baskets with handles on some shelves that are great for candy molds, cookie cutters, cake pans and stuff, for my candy melts, decorating bags, colors and tools I have plastic bins with snap on lids and handles. On top of each I have a basket that can hold the mini pans that have 6 cavities or so. I store my holiday pans in one cabinent next to a file box where I put inserts and other papers that come with my toys along with pictures I have used for transfers and stuff. I keep an air tight bin for fondant that will fit in a cabinent. I have wall space for my shaped pans so most are hung and I put out pans for the correct holidays, the pans that don't have holes I use curtain clips with a bow on them to hang. On a counter I have a screw organizer that I keep tips, flower nails, dusts and other little things in. I have one cabinent that is around the corner and on carpet in the kitchen that I use for my pans and stuff that have boxes since it's not really useful anyway.
Oh geez! I'm still trying to find permanent places for my stuff. I just started making cakes about four months ago and have a ton of stuff already. We added shelving to a free wall in my laundry room and it's full all the way to the ceiling. Under the shelving I have a 3 foot long kitchen cart that has drawers and two shelves. On those shelves I have plastic storage containers for my fondant and gumpaste tools. I also have my Wilton tool caddy there. I also put a hook on the wall and hang my large mats and cake marker there. We're getting ready to add another set of shelving so I have more room and a place to put all my cake related books and magazines. All the food items are still stored in my pantry and I have all the smaller tools in a drawer in my island that is designated for baking. Hope this helps. I keep buying stuff and I'm wondering where I'm going to put it all. It's an organizer's nightmare!

Luckily, I had a walk-in closet that wasn't being used. I recently ordered a metal rolling shelf unit to put all of my plastic storage containers on that are currently stacked on top of each other. It is just too much moving boxes to get to the one item I need...LOL its always on the bottom! Also ordered a small cart to decorate on.. will see how that works out
Amazing how much stuff I am adding to my cake collection every month!
You are a lucky girl to have a special cake room. I am like everyone else with stuff in many places. My darling husband has done a spreadsheet that helps me keep track of where everything is. NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO MOVE ANYTHING WITHOUT ASKING ME FIRST!
Well, I like so many don't have the space for everything. But there is some order to my madness. I have two HUGE boxes were I have my pans in one and my separater plates in the other. Than I also have stuff at my moms house (she lives about half hour away-but I see her every few days, so that"s not to bad). Than I have a linen cleset that no longer holds linens and that has "Cake Crap" (as my dh would call it.- How dare he!) And I have a small storage space and that is starting to fill up with stuf too. I wish I could have a cake room, But I ilve in a 3 bedroom apt and that isn't going to happen anytime soon. We are just straing to discusse a house and of course it needs to have at least 4 bedrooms or 3 bedrooms and some kind of den or family room just for all my 'cake Crap" Wish my luck.

Well seeing as how I'm a collector of any hobby I get into I have tons of cake stuff everywhere! But, I do know where to find it.
I have 1/2 of my closet with large clear boxes filled with pans, candy molds and other items that I don't use very often.
Then I have two other large boxes in my bedroom filled with stuff I do use pretty often.
I have all my tips and colors and bags in the kitchen. All my flavors, cake mixes, fillings and so on are in the pantry.
I keep my new Agbay cutter on top of the fridge and all my books are in a bookshelf in my room.
I am now learing gumpaste so I have started a new box to fill with all the cuters and stuff that goes with gumpaste.
Oh ya, I two boxes filled with cookie cutters. One with plastic ones and one with brass and other metel cutters.
In other words, walk around my house and you will find some sort of cake stuff in just about every room!

I am struggling to find room for all my stuff and I haven't been decorating that long about 7-8 months. I am looking into your ideas here ![]()
I live in an apartment, that has a fairly decent sized kitchen but I am still running out of room!
Just tonight, at Walmart, I bought one of those Rubbermaid (actually Sterlite) portable "file cabinets". It was $10 marked down to $5 - they can be stacked on top of one another. Hmmmm, I may go back tomorrow and get a few more. There are so many types of storage containers, portable things on wheels, etc......I look for them on sale. I think that's the only solution I have for now. This stuff sure adds up fast, doesn't it?
OOOOOPS. I read page two before reading page one of this thread. And here I thought I had the brilliant idea of storage bins on rollers and what not. You are all WAY ahead of me. It was fun (and funny) reading everyone's stories about their cake stuff literally taking over their house. It sounds all too familiar. LOL ![]()
I'm not lucky enough to have a cake room (I'm very jealous!), but I do have a fairly large kitchen. I have two full cabinets of pans (drawers above them for candy molds and cookie cutters, the bottom half of my pantry is all cake boards, foil and cake plates. My linen closet houses the rolling storage unit with gumpaste tools, sprinkles, candles, pillars and the like and also has my "toolbox" and turntables.
I am the very lucky one. We just moved and I have my own cake room. Its is a bit off the kitchen, so I purchased two metal proofing cabinets from e bay. They were very inexpensive. I store quite a bit in those. I bought plastic bow boxes from Walmart after Christmas to store my chocolate molds. (this was supposed to be my "craft room", but stained glass and baking are not a good match.) I still use spread sheets to keep eveything in check.
i have a cupboard on my back patio and another in our kitchen. plus i took over a few of the kitchen cabinates. its cool with my parents,, yeah i am still at home married and all. and i am all of 30. homes are not easy to come by and my father loves us at home. ![]()
Just finished reading this post. It made my whole family laugh. I guess misery loves company. My husband just said today that my cake stuff was taking over the house. I think for this week anyway I have the little stuff under control but I am still looking for ways to store my cake pans. So have any of you come up with ways to store the pans since this was last discussed?
I recently growled at my DH for putting my tips, couplers and rings IN THE WRONG DRAWER!!!!
I told him to never put them anywhere except in their place again. I would just as soon that he didn't help with the dishes if he is going to spread my stuff all over the kitchen!!!! ![]()

I have a bakers rack in my laundry room that has my powdered sugar, bords, tips and most of my other stuff on it. I keep my pans in the kitchen cabinet, and then I have my baking ingrdients in a corner cabinet....God will stike ye down if you use my Viva for non-cake purposes..... ![]()

I just finished my second glass of wine...sorry for any typos! ![]()
lol..yall are so funny..but i know exactly where you all are coming from...i have a nice sized kitchen ..floor space wise, but my usable space sucks!!!...just the other day DH asked what we had to eat...then opens the cabinet and goes , cake stuff, cake stuff, cake stuff, and more cake stuff...then shut the cabinet...lol...i have stuff all over...recipes in drawer in bedroom, pans-racks in a plastic tub under table, tips colors, small stuff in small snap top containers, other small stuff in a picnic basket ...and other stuff in odd places but just like yall i know exactly where it all is but to some one coming in they would think i was crazy im sure.
I have a rolling toolbox that my honey gave me for christmas (Homedepot on sale) that holds all my deco tools (tips, bags, spatulas, handheld mixer ect.)It is really neat, has 2 big bins, pull out trays, side pockets, I keep it in the pantry and just roll it out whenever I am making a cake. It is really handy and easy to transport if I am making a cake at someone elses home. Food stuff is in pantry and I bought old metal 5 drawer filing cabinet at second hand store that sits outside on patio to hold cake pans and other baking stuff. KA stays on kitchen counter. I get all books from library(saves money) and scan what I think I can use on to CD's and transfer all pictures and ideas also that I think I may use later. CD's take up less room than books. Whenever I need something I print out and dispose of when I am done. I only bake for family and friends right now so I don't have ton's of stuff.
You mean I have to put it away????
I have everything in rubber storage boxes . . . I taped a clear sheet protector to the front of each bucket with a printed inventory of whats inside. I even found these perfect tiny plastic boxes (about 1/3 the size of a shoe box) at Michael's so I can organize my oils, colors, dusts, etc.
I have to admit though . . . we have a smaller sized kitchen so I tend to stack everything neatly in the dining room so I can get to it. My honey hates it though . . . he keeps moving everything out to the garage when I'm not looking!
i use a fishing tackle box that i bought years ago at canadian tire for all my tips, food colors, florist wire,cuplers....and then i have a shelf in my basement where i store all my perishable items....as for my cake pans, i don't have to many ( i rent them so i can save money.. ), i keep them in a cupboard.
