Hi,

After 9 years I'm getting into the cake fever again (four kids, enough said icon_lol.gif ). I started to experiment with cake recipes (want to add more to the duncan hines and pudding filling cakes recipe collection). I just made a chocolate cake that used coffee as an ingredient. It came out really moist.

1st question- What filling and frosting would be great to use?

2nd- Do these types of cakes taste good if flavored coffee is used?

Thanks for the help.

Linda

Flavored coffees don't always transfer the flavors to baked items. If you wanted another flavor, add the flavor with syrup, or extracts.

chocolate and coffee are great together (for most people) The filling could be plain icing, chocolate icing or coffee icing or a mocha

Raspberry is good with chocolate and coffee, so is orange and caramel

yes I think mocha sounds great for a filling, that way if your coffee flavor in the cake isn't strong enough, you will definitely get it in the filling. I have been using the IMBC frosting lately, it is sooo good, I am just going to start using it on everything! It tastes good on all cakes (at least I think so)
