I have an elephant cake to make for Sunday and I'm kind of stuck. I tested out tonight an angel food cake in a 9x13 pan and then cut out an elephant using a pattern. It really does resemble an elephant but it doesn't taste very good, and it's not as tall as I would like it. The mother really wants kind of a 3-d effect instead of something drawn on it. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. icon_biggrin.gif

Search in the galleries for elephant and some really cute 3-d ones come up. You could pm the member who made it to see if they can help with design/construction.

The only idea that came to my mind would depend on your having one of the 3-d bear pans, I've seen them adapted into elephants. Have you done a Google search (in the Images) to look for ideas?
That is a very good source. HTH Janice

How about molding a 3D Elephant out of Fondant and putting it on a flat cake that you could decorate with a jungle type theme? You could even put several elephants on it and maybe some 3D palm trees and a pond with some fondant rocks around it.

Do you have a sports ball pan? You could do the head only-- and maybe a trunk and ears out of fondant-- I think it would be cute. It could be placed on top of your regular sized round or sheet cake. Good luck with whatever you decide icon_smile.gif

I took the wilton class to learn how to use the 3d stand up bear pan in alternate ways. A lady in the class choose to do the elephant. She cut the shape of the ears out of poster board and then iced them as if they were cake. If you go to the wilton web sit and do a search, you can find the pattern there

I have piped a ton of elephants......look in my pics......That is sort of 3-D. You can have the elephants coming out of the cake, sitting on it, laying on it.... I posted directions on under the comments of my photos. Good Luck!
