So I want to try to make a bird out of gumpaste... I think!!
I have never worked with fondant, or gumpaste... so I don't really know where to start.
I am making a birdhouse cake for my mom and thought I would try a bird. Everyone seems to mention a Debbie Brown book- but I don't think I will have time to buy one before I start making this!
How do I make it? or do I buy it?!
Is there a good article on it?!

thanks!!

Gumpaste can be purchased 'readymade'. Wilton's is very good, but it will most likely need a bit of shortening added to each bit you work with.

GP dries very quickly, so if you don't need scultpting time, it work for making a bird.

You might consider sculpting from chocolate clay or fondant.

You can check some of the local bookstores for Debbie Browns books if there is not time to order one.
You can use Wilton fondant but try to get it at Hobby Lobby, Jo Anns or Michaels and use a 40% off coupon to get it. It is fine for making things but not good tasting so don't eat it. You can also get it in colors in some places but you can color your own. If just using fondant then make sure you have plenty of time for it to dry (several days. )
