but I have a question. If you find a kitchen to rent to do your baking do you have to decorate the cakes there also? or can you take them back to your home to do it? I know its probably a dumb question but I have to ask.
Thanks

I'm guessing that because of 'health code' reasons, depending on your area, you need to do all 'edible' work in the rented kitchen? icon_sad.gif

Technically, per the Health Department, you are supposed to do EVERYTHING from the commercial kitchen. You aren't even supposed to take your equipment home. However, I don't think everyone follows this rule completely.

My health department rep told me I couldn't even do gumpaste or fondant flowers/bows at home, because then they would be "contaminated". icon_confused.gif

I have no words for how wrong I think this is.

Did you know that Paula Deen never cooked a thing in the kitchen she used to get her business license here? She said it was so flithy she wouldnt have made her dog a meal in that kitchen. She just was careful and didnt get caught lol. I read her book. icon_smile.gif

That is very interesting. I have had the same experience at the licensed (ie: non-contaminated) kitchens I've used.
