Well Here it is my attempt at a carved turkey! A HUGE Thanks to Miss Missy for posting the directions here in the forums. It wouldn't crust over, so I couldn't press for the skin pattern. I like the outcome though. A friend quickly looked in the fridge and asked why I would make a turkey and let it sit there and that I should have a damp towel over it to make it moist! icon_confused.gificon_lol.gificon_confused.gif . I guess I achieved what I was going for. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

My Husband knew better though....I hate to cook anything never mind poultry! icon_lol.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_cry.gif

Awesome job!! How do you achieve the dark brown and light brown skin? Is it airbrushed? Or could you do it with a papertowel with the darker brown on it, and just dab the colour on?

Thanks everyone.!

MSurina...I colored the BC let dry a bit.Textured with a damp paint brush. I guess you could say I did a "sponge"effect to get the 2 colors.

spottydog,

You did a super job. I can see why your friend would mistake it for real.

I would have never thought that was a cake if it had been sitting on a table with all the trimmings. Beautiful work. Wow!

Ok....so great I have 6 orders for the turkey so far. Only problem is how much to charge. The "only" local bakery charges $26.95. It is a bit smaller but they include ALL trimmings made out of bc. Any thoughts??? Suggestions? Should I charge the same or less because I am just starting out as a residential kitchen?

How much it cost you to make it & how long it takes you to make it?

Yeah I actually sat down and figured my costs this morning. If I charged 30.00 I would be making a 27% profit. I guess that's good except Now I am realizing I never took into account lettuce, box, electricity, hot water. ARGGGG. Some day
