I just took a 2 day class with Nicolas Lodge in Lynnwood, WA, and I just want to say that: He is the best teacher in the world! He is so organized and clear with his demonstrations, he walks around the class and always has an answer for every question. But the most important thing is that he is not a show off. He is so humble and warm towards everybody... I could take just one of the workshops he was offering since the other ones were during the work week. I did a Christmas arrangement and let me tell you: Everyone's arrangement was great and that's because of him... I just can't stop thinking about it.... If you have the chance to take a class with him, do it, don't think of the money(unless you really can't afford it) and take it because it's worth every single penny.

I totally agree. He is one of the most accessible people. If you can't see him in person, his videos are the best. And worth every penny.

A woman in my cake club took a class from him a year ago. When she saw him at the California Cake Camp a few weeks ago, he remembered her BY NAME. That's a sign of a caring individual.

Thanks for the great review of Nicholas Lodge's class, Inma.

I'm fortunate enough to be going to Chicago in October to take his week-long class at the Wilton School. Several things had come up that nearly made me cancel, but I resisted doing so and now I'm so glad that I can go!

I think with his exposure as a judge on the FoodNetwork it may get even more difficult to get time with him.

I live in Atlanta, where his school is based, and I took Intro to Fondant and his Ultimate Gumpaste Flowers Class. You are all so right - he is incredible! He is a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny. I can only take the classes around tax season, cuz that's the only time I can afford it! I've learned so much, and it's such a great experience being in his classroom. They even make you lunch every day! And his shop has so many great things that are so hard to find anywhere else. I can't wait till next tax season! Ha ha.

I took his two day fall arrangement class two weekends ago. It is the second time I have taken his class. He is great!!! I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I am very fortunate to live close to his studio in Norcross, Ga.

He did several demos for Our SC ICES Day Of sharing and I agree he is super. I wanted to take the classes he held the next to days but couldn't get off work. If there is a next time I will call in sick. Atlanta is only 2 hours away but I hate driving in that city. Maybe someday.

You guys definitely have to try to take one of his classes in Atlanta. The staff that helps him is so knowledgable too. And not only do they give you lunch - they have coffee, tee, sodas, and water available free all day - and they make cookies in the afternoon! It's such a nice environment - I highly, highly recommend it, if you can possibly do it. You'll learn so much and have a great time. And he has a lot of his cakes on display, and they're amazing. Beautiful gumpaste flowers, too.

All of you have taken his classes are so lucky. I live in Richmond, so I have not only the cost of the course, but air fare and hotel to pay! icon_cry.gif I'm saving my money, though, I would love to take one of his classes. If anyone has pictures posted based on the results of his instruction, I would love to see them!

Weird! For some reason I didn´t get the email saying people were replaying to the post and I thought I was the only one out there thinking Nick is the greatest! icon_lol.gif

I also got like 3 of his DVD´s with one being the newest of the DVD´s that it´s still not up on his website. It shows you how to make roses in a basket made out of gumpaste, gumpaste butterflies.... It looks great even though I haven´t had time to watch the whole thing. It´s also a double set because it includes another DVD where he talks about how to make wedding cakes.

He is a busy man, that´s true! He is going to Japan in the next few weeks to the sister school he founded in Tokio. I´m thinking of maybe making it to Chicago one of this summers for his gumpaste plass or maybe Atlanta....

Ok, so here I have the pictures of the work I did on his workshop.

Another Nic student who thinks he is the greatest. He is so patient, doesn't let you go until he is sure you have "Got It" Never makes a person feel looked down upon. And his life partner Scott is wonderful as well, drove me back to the motel because it was raining. And he puts out some delicious lunches as well.

Yes, Scott is wonderful too, and also very knowledgable. It's just such a nice environment. And he makes great cookies! One day he made homemade ginger cookies, which I've never heard of, and they were soooo yummy!

Frindmi,
Your Christmas spray turned out gorgeous! It's always helpful to have a great instructor, but you have obviously got some talent to start with. That is an excellent arrangement! I aspire to do something half as great as that one day, and taking a class would be so much fun!

Hello...I am a Nick goupie also....I came from Naples, Italy to Norcross, GA to take one of his 4-day classes in May. He is totally incredible. Once I got over the shock of being in class with him, I truly enjoyed it. It was worth every penny. I also purchased two of his videos and they are worth every penny also. So if you can take one of his classes PLEASE do so. It is a life learning experience......Kim

Thank you so much! I had so much fun with it! But let me tell you, everybody's sprays were just like mine if not better. He is the greatest!

I totally agree. When I came in, the first thing he said was: Did we spell your name right? That really touched me since I've had my name mispelled so many times since I live here and see someone that did care about it meant the world to me. Nick also told us that when in Atlanta Scott bakes cookies for the students but not on the road (he was in Lynnwood). They even came to the potluck organized by the owner of the store who brought him here. Unfortunately I couldn't go but I'm planning to next time he comes. He'll be in the Cake Cruise sailing from Seattle next September... Too bad is during school time (I'm a teacher).. He'll only be doing demos and Colette Peters will be there too, also doing demos only.

I have to agree that he and his staff are wonderful. I was fortunate enough to attend one of his classes in Norcross recently. I'm a raw beginner and was a bit apprehansive about my lack of experience. He kept us focused and motivated and was extremely generous with individual attention. And as mentioned earlier, Scott's food is worth the price of admission icon_biggrin.gif . His prices are a bargain for the knowledge received. I filled my shopping basket with DVDs and toys, and all of the DVDs are wonderful. I just hope I have a comparable experience in Orlando with Colette Peters next month!
