Hi! I did a search on the best icing for sugar cookies, but didn't find what I wanted. I don't usually make cookies, so I need an easy no fail recipe. Any help would be great!

Thanks!
Leah

most people use antionias Royal Icing recipe from this site. It is easy to work with. I just put mine into a decorating bottle to flood the cookies.

You can also use buttercream or fondant(cut out with the cookie cutter and applied to the warm cookie.

I use royal icing. There are several recipes out there. Instead of decorating bottles, I use the cheap ketchup/mustard squeeze bottles you can buy at the dollar store. You can usually get a 2 pack for much cheaper than just one decorating bottle.

Thanks eveyone for the quick responses! The ketchup squeeze bottle sounds like a great idea. I think I'll try antonias Royal icing.

Thanks again!

I use buttercream and they taste so yummy. I use the same buttercream as I use on my makes which makes life so much easier because I don't have to make lots of different types of icing. I decorate them and let them sit for a day or two in open air and they crust enough to put in a bag and place in a box on top of one another without getting smushed. The icing is crusted on the top but soft as can be underneath!
