Ok first, My problem- my cake sides are curving in. It almost has like an hour glass figure. What am I doing wrong?? Second- I am going to make a nail polish cake tonight, using round cakes cut in half and stood up on the flat end. Do I need to do something to support these, here is a picture to show kinda what I am talking about. Please help ASAP!!

I am not sure about the curving sides...If you cool cake in the pans, and it is a bit stuck, as it shrinks it can distort the sides. As soon as you take it out of the oven, run a knife around the edges to loosen the sides..

As for supporting cut cake on its side, if it isn't to fragile, it should be fine on it's own. The icing used to stick the 1/2 layers together, along with the fondant cover should hold them in place just fine.
