Ok, still venting. Now this woman has the nerve to tell me she was embarrased to serve my cake to her guests! She said she went and bought a cake from Sams Club and served it instead. And also said my cake was messy and hard!
This same woman saw a picture the day of and said it was gorgeous! Can I get some honest opinons? Would you be embarrassed by this cake?
(this is the same picture she saw)
Sorry, Im having trouble loading the picture as an attachment. Its the the cake named Lou in my photos.
no. I think that this cake is very beautiful.. i dont' really do cakes as business, but one thing i have learned from this site is often times people make up problems to try to get their money back.. its a tough situation!
I would have her return the cake for her money back. I'm thinking she served it darn well! It beat the he** out of a Sam's club cake any day!
I think you have someone who has buyer's remorse.
Okay.. the cake is pretty, but the edges of your fondant cut outs are really choppy.. maybe that's what she was referring to? I know you said you had trouble with the fondant. That's the only thing I can see that would make anyone say it was a "messy" looking cake. Overall though it was nice!
i would be embarrased for HER, i agree with FrostinGal i think she is feeling buyer remorse and she thinks by complaing you are going to give her back her money, but don't unless she bring the cake back untouched! you cake is beautiful by the way you did a great job
for you
for her!
I would not except the used cake. How do you know noone sneezed on it, or touched it with filthy hands?
if you're referring to asking for the cake back, the idea is not to keep it for yourself, but rather to prevent them from keeping it. you don't want them getting a refund and eating the cake too. so asking for it back means she'll be preventing her customer from using the product, and then just tossing it out herself.
and what happened to the cake between the time you gave it to her in the parking lot and it got to the party???
if you get my drift!
_
Ditto!!!
I agree. It sounds to me as though she's fishing for a refund. Honestly, do you really think she went to Sam's Club? She's the one that should be embarrassed. People are too much work sometimes...
o.k, how would she know it was "hard" unless she had cut into it? at what point did she decide it didn't taste good enough to serve? after the first guest ate it and then she decided to run out in the middle of the party and get a sam;s cake? i wonder if she dropped it or something and HAD to get a sams cake, so now she wants her money back.
Create a file, (No Return Customers) and make sure her name is the first in the file...that way, when you look up a file when she calls you for another cake, you'll remember that you're 'too busy' to accomodate her! (Much like the lists that some stores use to make sure they don't take bad checks, don't allow 'bad' complaining customers to reorder...they bad mouth you...and you don't want that!).
I'd buy her 2 batteries, a gift certificate to the local porn shop and tell her to **** herself. (Of course, I *AM* in a really bit**y mood right now!)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I am going pi$$ my pants!! hahahahahaha!!!!!! ![]()

BWAAAAAHAHAHAAAA
What Indydebi said!! Boy have I had to bite my tounge a few times to not want to just come out and say that exact thing!
People like her will ALWAYS have an issue with something, no matter what. File her away as a CFH (customer from hell) and never accept an order from her again.

OMG!!.......This has got to be THE BEST response I have ever read here! You are soooooo creative. If I find myself in the right mood, I could totally see myself saying this! Shame on me!!
Original poster: Ask for the cake AND the receipt for the alleged replacement cake. She is soooooo full of it!!
Oh boy, this is one of those posts where I would like to quote a whole bunch of previous posters. Firstly let's start with indydebi. I thought you were going to go a different route in your first post and sort of ask if the customer really wanted to see something h_ _d! Okay, my mind it probably rolling in the gutter, but that's where I thought that was going...
As for beccakelly:

No, you certainly don't want her to have your cake [for free] and eat it too! I'm sure that's what you meant. The whole idea, 7yyrt, is that if she really thought the cake was bad and was embarrassed by it, it would be in tact and not cut into or it would only have one or two pieces missing (this way she did cut it and found out it was too h_ _d.
As somebody else already mentioned, when exactly did she run out to Sam's Club to replace your lovely cake? Did she serve it and have a guest complain and then taste it herself? Was it too difficult to cut, so she stopped and then ran out to Sam's Club telling her guests she'd be right back? Did she try a piece before her guests arrived?
I'm sure, as seems to be the verdict here, that she just wants her money back! Looking to get something for nothing.
This woman is most definitely on crack! Your cake is beautiful, creative and fun! You should be very proud of it! Don't we all learn something about cakes each time we do one? I agree with an earlier post - maybe she thought the fondant tissue looked messy - I think it looks like tissue for a present, and it's never perfect, that's why you use it! It truly is a very nice cake - sorry that you're dealing with this woman! I'd ask for the cake to be returned, and then possibly discuss some sort of refund, but don't promise anything up front. And I'm wondering the same thing - when did she have time to run to Sam's? Seriously - if people are going to lie about something, why can't the be a bit better at it? Like my husband, he dropped his Ipod in a puddle, and it stopped working. He'd gotten the warranty for it, so we took it back, and he said it stopped working- yeah, it did stop working after he dropped it in the puddle, but did they need to know that? Anyway - I'm not sure how that relates here, sorry! Definitely don't do business with her again, she's not worth the stress!
Can I ask how much she paid for the cake?
Had you done this cake before?
What picture did you show her or did you do a sketch? Or you just talked to her about it?
People don't realize fondant hardens so I am sure that is what she was meant. You can just touch it and tell, she didn't have to cut it.
