OK, so I'm all ready to cover my cake with ganache, then I realize, huh....how am I going to fill the sides of the cake where the filling is so it doesn't look like little divits between the cake??

Any expereince with this?? Should I buttercream it first then ganache it?

a Thin coat of buttercream is a very good idea. It will provide a smooth surface for your ganache cover. the ganache is reveal any imperfections, although, in most cases, it doesn't really matter that much. remember, it is only cake. icon_biggrin.gif

Cover with buttercream and smooth as much as possible. The smoother the buttercream the smoother the ganache.

Buttercream will work - make sure your ganache is nice & cool, so your bc doesn't melt! icon_smile.gif
