Thank you for the inspiration! You are one very clever (And creative) Cookie!!
P.S. - a message from DH: "OMG, not MORE cake stuff!!!
So get this, we were in Gulf Shores this weekend and I found this same thing, thought of this thread and bought it....2 sizes.... both clearanced for 12 bucks... got home and saw the 2 pc sticker on only one of them.. so I got jipped.... going back to get my refund for one of them for sure! Can't wait to use them though! Thanks for the idea~
Your cake stand is awesome!! And your cake was fabulous too =)
That's so creative
But you had written that you put lights under there... Did the fondant or BC melt because of it?? It's probably a stupid question..
Auughhh! I DID jip myself out of the little stand then! Darn!
I did think about the heat from the lights, so I bought the ones that don't get hot- I can't think of what they are called- and did a test run to see if it would get hot in the confined area. I wouldn't recommend xmas lights or anything that gets hot just for that reason!
Wow! Amazing. The lighting must have just been spectacular. Thumbs up brnrlvr. I guess you have to wonder around the store with a different set of eye's when it comes to cakes. Nice stands are soooo expensive. Thanks for the idea.
I'm going to the one here in town TOMORROW and try to find it (heck I'd go now but it's already after midnite here and DH is coming to bed soon oops TMI? ) .
What section was it in - pictureframes? Housewares? Furniture?????
OK I am ON MY WAY!!!!
I have a square cake job this weekend and now I will have something to put it on!!!
What a great idea. Seems like we often get stuck in the same old rut of doing it the way we did it last time. Thanks for the info; now I'll start looking at everything I see as a cake stand.
That is a totally fabulous cake and really deserved
to be shown off on your ''unique'' stand.
How utterly clever you are. Keep those great ideas coming!!!
Good idea for a cake stand. Especially the lighted part. Really highlights your great cake. That was a very creative idea.
Yep, you get the prize! And that is a totally awesome cake too! I'm going shopping at Wally World.
What a great Idea. I would worry about the glass breaking too. But I assume that worked out fine.
COOL!
MrsAB- The monogram was metal that the bride bought and supplied- no talent on my part!
I just spent the better part of an hour searching our Walmart and could not find this shelf frame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live in a town of about 15,000, and our walmart did not have them. The next town over is about 80,000 and I found them there. Another person saidshe found them on clearance at her store, and another person PMed me and said she couldn't find them online at Walmart. I'll chechk online and see what I can find...
I live near Hagerstown MD, pop 50,000 +/-, which has the top-rated WalMart every year (seriously...there's like, awards and stuff ...) I even asked somebody and they looked at me like I was describing some sort of alien life form for all the sense it made to them. I should have printed the photo out to take with me.
I looked onlline and can't find anything. Here is the number on the price tag-0747221123 there is an "8" before the main number and a "7" after. I don't know if they count those two. It is called "2PC Square Wall Shelf"
Good luck!
