I am working on a baby shower cake for this coming Sun. I need to just fondant an 8"-- with BC filling. It is getting very warm here and I am wondering about putting in the fridge once I am done. I will finish the rest of the decor on Sun. morning.

I have heard that if a cake is blue or purple it will turn color slightly if it is in the fridge or under bright lights-- is this true? I need to work on this today because I have so much to do.

Thanks!
Melissa

If you can put it in an airtight container, like a tupperware cake carrier, it will be great. There is a risk of condensation when you take it from the fridge. If you leave it closed in the container, the condensation will form on the outside of the container.

Purple and blue are effected by light. Hopefully, you are using Americolor gels, they don't fade as much.

Thanks for your input. Since I only have one layer to do- I'm just going to go ahead and fondant it and set it in a cool, dark area of my kitchen.

Unfortunately I used Wilton color-- but I think it will be ok for this time. I am definitely going to switch though.

Since the cupcakes that I am doing will be underneath the cake so to speak I think it will work.

I'm being confident this time around-- can't you tell? he he
