O.k. all you amazing cake decoraters I really need some advice. For my DH b-day I want to make a sculpted cake!
If you are familiar with fire gear - I want to make a pair of fire boots in his Bunkers(pant)fOR those of you who aern't familiar with the whole fire thing -what they do is step into thier pants with boots on and then pull them down so that theya are ready to hop into the next time . So basically they are boots with the pants pulled down .
I am thinking I can use fondant for the actual pants not to worried about that I will just have to give it some thought .
But.... The boots
I'm thinking multiple layer cake -and i probably have to just "sculpt" the bottem foot part and the top where they pull up and stick out of the pants. How would you all do that ??
I looked at the flower pot tutorial on CC bit I dont know if I have to dowel all those layers or what any trhought on what I should do???
thanks as always ![]()
Would the boots be on the outside or inside of the pants? Why couldn't you just use cake underneath with fondant toes for the boots and fondant to crease around the cake to look like a "pile of pants"?
Debbie
the boots will be on the inside I was thinking maybe I could just carve the toe part and the uppers ???
If they're going to be pretty high like a life size set of boots........I would dowel just so you don't get any shifting........I would also roll out fondant really thin for the pants so you can get a nice effect of the creasing and folding and so forth for the pants.........kinda like when people do the gift box cakes...how the tissue paper fondant is folded and crinkled?? Something along those lines, but maybe a little thicker so they aren't see through like tissue paper. cjf did a nice set of cowboy boots http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=search&search=boots&cat=0&pos=96&search=boots
maybe you could pm her and see about turning them into fire boots.......same basic shape, you would just make them more rounded toed instead of pointy and the heel would be flat.......but same basic construction, I'm sure that would be a huge help from someone whos done it before. Good Luck , can't wait to see the finished product
Start with an oval cake and carve in the front and back sorta like a figure 8 for btw the legs and use that to make your toes. . .
