I just told my husband I have baked my last cake. icon_cry.gif I was baking two 10" square lemon cakes and one of them stuck so bad in the pan. I've never had this to happen in four years. I"m just so upset that I'm actually in tears. My DH doesn't understand. He said "Honey, it's just cake, bake another one". I wanted to throw what came out of the pan at him. icon_evil.gif Anyway, I just needed a place to vent. I know I'm not the only one who this has happened to, but I just didn't take this well at all.

I know exactly how you feel. I had this happen to me 2 times with the same cake. Finally I had to get my mom to make it for me.
I now line to bottom with parchament paper and I have never had a problem since.

Don't give up, it was probably just a fluke thing.

Hang in there! I've done it too! Use parchment paper! Works like a charm!

And guess what! You get to make cake balls now! icon_biggrin.gif

You guys are a riot!!! Don't give up. I had 20 pumpkin rolls last November to make. I would say that at least 9 of them stuck to the pan. I don't know what I did wrong but I too was in tears. I too swore I wouldn't make any more cakes. I then turned around and made wedding cake for 300 people icon_surprised.gif and that turned out beautiful. I know your upset but take a deep a breath and aim well icon_lol.gif

Thank you guys so much! I baked it again and it came out fine. I've never used parchment paper, so I'll have to try that so that I don't have to throw a fit again. Do you cut it just the size of the pan? Thanks again!

Place your pan on the PP and trace it, then cut just inside the lines! I would never bake without it!! I spray Cake Release, place PP down and then spray again in the crevices!!

I guess that's a case of "When life gives you lemon cake, make lemon cake balls."

Sorry you had problems. Just take a deep breath and regroup. You'll make it just fine. Don't quit baking..............

Another thing that you can try is "Pan Grease." You can get it through CK Products. It is fabulous! thumbs_up.gif It is a soy based product that you brush into your pans with a pastry brush (much like Wilton's Cake Release {not the spray}). I find that it works much better and I use it without PP and it works every time. Won't bake a cake without it! icon_wink.gif

The "pan grease" recipe from this site is great also!! Much cheaper than Wilton!!

Hang in there, we all have days like this - just take a deep breath and a nice big gulp of red wine and everything will be just fine. icon_razz.gif

I do have a slight trick though that I use, if the cake sticks, slid a silicon batter spatula around the edges and slowly creep it under the cake - pops out everytime for me..........and if you have some tiny chunks of cake that are missing - slap some BC in them.

I also use parchment paper... I just rub a smidge of crisco on the pan so the parchment paper stays where I put it. When you do this and it pops right out, smile sweetly at your husband. birthday.gif
