I stopped at the hardware store today (has a bit of everything there etc) and found these ice cube molds for a buck each. I then took a bit of some fondant and placed it in to see how well it would mold and release and it worked wonderfully icon_smile.gif

only drawback is they only came in apple grape or orange ol

Oh - thank you for sharing. I'm always looking for cheaper ways to do something different (and molds at cake stores are too expensive).

Thanks for sharing! those are cute. i have found a few like those in my dollar store near work. They had dolphins, sea theme, fruit and others.
I have also seen some new and cute (theme) ones at Target. I think they sell for $2 at target.

i did give it a test run as you can see; the molds are flexible and were only a dollar each icon_smile.gif i usualy pass them up but as i started working with mmf recently i thought why not. if it didn't work i'd still have 3 molds for icecubes lol!

I got ice cube mold also from the dollar store. The stores here have about 7 different varieties. I just never thought of using them with fondant.

Guess I'll have to hit the Dollar Store today! I had seen some at Hobby Lobby too, but I'm sure they weren't a dollar!

lol i decided - after posting this last nite- to make some icecubes with these molds just to see how they'd turn out icon_biggrin.gif

keep in mind these molds posted are flexible. not sure how fondant will work in sturdy non flexible ones but hey we're only limited by our imaginations!
