Just a little vent...icon_wink.gif and a little long...

We were having a beach birthday party for 10 yo DS on Sunday. I wanted to replicate Kitagrl's awesome shark cake, and she was gracious enough to give me some pointers. On Wednesday, I approached DH with a sketch of what I needed him to do, which was cut some wood, complete with dimensions, a template, and a drawing of where the cake would be for reference. He told me he could do it no problem. Saturday I bake the cakes, color the icing & make a fin. Saturday evening, he comes to me with the wood. Maybe he thought he could improve upon the design or maybe he just doesn't like following directions, but it wasn't exactly what i had asked for and I couldn't see how I was supposed to use it. When I brought it back to the garage to ask, he told me he'd have to do it tomorrow (Sunday, the day of the party!). uh, ok. Sunday morning is church. I again explain to him how I need the pieces cut, and at 11:50, one hour and 10 minutes before we were leaving for the party, he brings it to me. I was freaking out! The boards weren't covered, and i had to make a 3D shark in an hour and pack the car w/ the beach party stuff! Surprisingly, it came together looking somewhat like a shark, but I hate doing rush jobs. I wanted to throw it at him. Guess I need to learn how to use power tools. He did a great job w/ it BTW, even sanded down all the edges.

I'm with you! Time to learn how to use power tools. My DH is a whiz at every technical thing he does. Only he does his part early and I'm the one running around like a chicken with her head cut off.

I definitely need to change this.

Your cake came out wonderful!

icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif It must be a man thing about doing something the way YOU want it done!

I needed a shelf hung. I was leaving and he asked me to show him where I wanted it and he'd do it while I was out. I have an extensive Coke collection, so I needed this shelf hung a little lower than normal because of the tall items I was putting on it. Well, you can see where this is going. I come back and he's hung it about 5" higher than I asked. On my newly painted wall. And he used the big 'ole bracket that leave HUGE holes in the wall .... in my newly painted wall.

He says, "What do you think?" I said, "That's nice, but I'm just wondering why you didnt' hang it where *I* wanted it hung?"

The ring that holds the hand towel in our downstairs 1/2 bath was too close to the outlet, so I wanted it moved to the opposite side of the sink (it's on the right wall .....move it to the left wall). Oh he moves it for me.... he moves it from the left of the outlet to the RIGHT of the outlet .... on the same freakin' wall! So again I ask him, "How come you didn't move it to where *I* wanted it?" He says, "Well, WHERE on that wall did you want it?" I said, "NOT ON THAT WALL YA BIG MORON!"

But he's a man .... he can't help it! So I forgive him! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
