The cake turned out so pretty!! I see why you didn't want to bake it again! I am on board with the home made cake release, I just ran out of my Wilton cake release and SOOOOOOOO don't want to buy anymore!! I makn my own tonight!!!!!! Thanks everybody!!
When baking shaped or character pans, I use Pam, the generic version. I don't like the crust that forms with flour.
For basic cakes, I just line the bottom with parchment paper and bake. After the cake is completely cool, I run a knife around the edge and the cake comes right out. I love that I can store cakes in the fridge in the pans, which protects them from getting smushed.
The uncoated pan sides promote more even layers without the cake strips in smaller pans, 10" or less.
