I'm guessing this has been discussed before, but my forum search turned up nada ...

What size and shape cake pans do you find you use most?

I currently have those 9"x2" round stacking Wilton pans (which are irritating me now that I know icon_wink.gif )and a set of 6"x2" round Wilton pans.

I'd really like to get some Magic Line pans.... icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif
But need to try and get the most out of a new purchase.

For stacked and tiered cakes, what sizes are used most often together?
And for single-tier cakes, what size do you use most?

Thanks!

I do a lot with 8X3 right now, but that is because for me its a perfect practice cake, easy to tort and decorate and send to hubby's work for taste testing...

I am just starting out though...so I can't help you much...but here is a bump.

For wedding cakes, my most popular size combinations in rounds seem to be 6", 10" and 14". I find that I make a lot of birthday cakes in 10" also.

Hi! I purchased a set that included 4x3,6x3,8x3,10x3, 12x3... I've been baking for a good 3 years now for birthdays, family gatherings and a wedding... I love my pans and they are just perfect. At first I was hesitant investing, but I must say I truly made a great investment... You really need to think about the use you will give them. I have a big family so I find myself baking very oftenicon_smile.gif have fun baking...

I don't have any magic line pans but would love to buy some.

I use my Wilton 8 x 3 pans alot mostly because I'm still doing alot of practice cakes and they're not too big and I'm spending time practicing different borders, fillings, etc.

I would say that most of the cakes people order from me are the 12 x 18 half sheet. Aside from that, I do a lot of 6 x 6 squares for bably blocks. Magic line pans are the best!

I guess for me I use my round 9" pans the most...I think I'm going to downgrade though, I want something smaller than 9" round but larger than a 6" round, wish they made 7.5" I would be the difficult one icon_biggrin.gif

I used to make a lot of 12 x 18 sheet cakes, but now I have an 11 x 15, and I like it much better. I don't make a lot of round cakes. I wish I did. But I seem to have a couple of 8" cakes in the freezer most of the time.
