I'm going to enter the county fair in October. I have NEVER done anything like this ever.

But here's my idea...to make a cake that looks like our fair building.
I'm going to try to attach a picture of the building.

start w/ a hexagon pan.

at least 4 layers, top two of which will be carved for roof.

sections of sheet cakes to make the little side buildings that are up against the main building.

jamhays,
Boy was I surprised when I opened this post to see a picture of the H.O.T. fairgrounds Coliseum building from my home town!
I would also suggest taking many photos of each side of the building and sketches, along with Doug's great diagram.
Good luck and can't wait to see your cake with a huge ribbon on it!! cowboy.gif

P.S.Adding the marquise that is out front would be awesome,too.....

Maybe you can use the gingerbread cookie method for the front of the building??
