I have to make a birthday cake for a collegue of my DBF for Monday.

I was going to make the WASC but I have a couple of questions.

The recipe calls for all purpose flour, do you use that or do you use cake flour?

Also as I am not familiar with the recipe, what would you use to fill it and frost it.

As I dont know the woman and my DBF has so much faith icon_biggrin.gif in my abilities, I was planning on putting white chocolate cigarellos around the cake. (I think that is what you call them, they are a round long wafer with chocolate inside) and tying it with a pretty ribbon with flowers on top. icon_biggrin.gif

Many thanks in advance.

Cheryl

I have used all pupose flour when I've made this and it turned out to have a wonderfully moist texture. I have only filled it with a shortening based buttercream but I think it would be out of this world with a strawberry or raspberry filling or mousse. Also, when I made the original version I substituted creme bouquet for the almond and I got rave reviews. I couldn't stop eating it myself!!

Depending of which brand of cake mix you are using, you may need to add extra flour. The first time I made this cake, the mixture was very runny so I asked and a CC member told me that the cake mix in USA weigh 516g per box.
