It was brought to my attention at the venue I sell at that "Puppy Love Confections" resembles an "adult movie"
(I dont know anything about that genre) So I need to change my name because I dont want people getting the wrong idea. I have no idea to replace it with. I want something has to do with my ancestry. I'm Scotch/Irish. Can someone throw out some ideas?
Well, first I was thinking just change confections to cakes or cakery or bakery. But if you want an Irish/Scotch flavor (btw....me too...
), I'm gonna have to think on that for a bit. The ideas that came to mind initially don't really shout 'cake' to me.
Also, I don't know anything about that movie either...I never got that impression from your name. How long have you had it? If it has been a long time, maybe the reference is pretty obscure, and you don't have to change anything.
I honestly don't know what they are talking about and wouldn't bother changing it... they have made adult movies under every name possible so almost anything you choose could potentialy be similar to an adult movie.
Also, one of my friends is very familiar with those types of movies... no judgement
and I told her your name and she said 'Huh?'. She has no idea what they are talking about either and her and her husband are sort of into that sort of thing...... Just my opinion, of course. I would just hate for you to have to change after you have developed a name people may recognize - it's sort of like starting over....
How about: The Little Celtic Bakery or Celtic Cakes.
Sweet Thistle Bakery.... what do you think?
Kayley Cakes? (I know it's not spelt like that - is it something like celidah?)
She is right anything can be related to something of a dirty nature or rated x movie
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I think I am going to go with Sweet Thistle because I have it stuck in my brain.
You're right- there is probably an adult movie for every name you can think of but being I live smack in the Bible Belt, I dont want to ruffle any (more) feathers so I'll suck it up and swap it.
I wouldn't change your name at all.
They come up with all sorts of names for those movies, and there are millions out there, so the next thing you pick could just as easily be accidentally similar.
I'd guess that no one would assume that you'd named your baking business after an adult flick...
I wouldn't worry about it.

ROFLOL!! Truly! If you live in the Bible Belt, those folks shouldn't know what the names of adult movies are!! ![]()
I don't think you should have to change it!
Thanks so much for the laughs! I am wiping the tears from my eyes! ![]()

Girl, dont get me started. Dallas is the #1 US city for the most adult boutiques. Why, just down the road on 45 is an adult novelty store and then a mile down the road you have the "Stop the porn- be reborn" billboards.
Funny thing about them liquor stores- they seem to be the busiest after the Sunday sermon. Ah, yes the Bible Belt. ![]()
God forbid someone mentions a Donny Osmond song...
*edited for spelling
My vote keep PL - it sounds sweet & young to me. Thistle is prickly! I guess I'm had a bad time picking the stickers about on a 2.5 hour drive home no long ago.....
The next person that mentions XXX - ask them how they know!?!
(you forgot the tatoo place across from the beer stores! Don't we love that 5 miles streach of IH45)
